The Harold & Grace Baker Centre and its affiliates, parents, and subsidiaries (collectively, "the Baker Centre", "us" or "we") recognizes the importance of your right to keep the personally identifiable information we collect on this website private. The Baker Centre is committed to protecting such information by ensuring it is treated with care and, is not used or disclosed in ways that are not described in this Privacy Policy ("Policy"), without your consent.
This Policy governs the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information when you use this site or in any communication or interaction you may have with us, whether it be in person, over the telephone, or electronically. This Privacy Policy does not describe or apply to the processing of personal information or personal health information of residents of the Baker Centre.
By submitting your Personal Information (as defined below) to us, or using the Baker Centre’s website (the "Site"), you accept this Policy and consent to its terms and any terms that are otherwise described to you at the time of collection of your Personal Information. If you do not agree with the terms of this Policy, please do not use the Site or otherwise provide your Personal Information to us.
This Policy may be amended at the Baker Centre’s discretion. Please check back from time to time for any amendments. Your continued access to and/or use of our Site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of, and agreement to this Privacy Policy, as revised.
Policy Summary
1. What Personal Information we Collect. When you visit our Site, we collect the Personal Information you choose to provide us through it. For example, this may include your name and contact information, such as your mailing address, email, and telephone number, and information you include in your communications with us. If you make a donation, we receive donor name, street/email address, personal message (e.g., dedication or in memoriam), and form of payment.
2. How we Collect Information Using Technology. We also collect information using technologies such as cookies. This may include IP address, details of your visits to the Site and the resources that you access, time spent on those pages, access dates and times, clicks, traffic data, general location derived from IP address, weblogs and other communication data, operating system, browser type and demographics. We use this to understand how our Site is used, and to improve it.
3. What we do with the Information we Collect. We use the personal information we collect to manage and provide access to our Site, respond to your inquiries and provide you with information, quality management, statistical analysis, to process donations, and for regulatory, legal, insurance, audit, and security purposes.
4. When we Disclose Personal Information. For donations, dedications or in memoriams may be shared with the next of kin. We may disclose Personal Information to third parties that help us process it as described in this Privacy Policy, or if it is permitted or required by law.
What is personal information?
"Personal Information" is information about an identifiable individual. This includes your name, age, residential address and e-mail address, telephone number, credit card and billing information, health information, and other personally identifiable information provided by you (for example, comments provided by you such as in an inquiry or in memoriam you submit with a donation, and information about your preferences and interests).
Collection and Use of Personal Information on our Site
Personal Information is collected by us when you provide it to us, either verbally or by written correspondence, including in person, and through faxes, emails and telephone inquiries. When you send us such communications, you choose what Personal Information you wish to include. Please note you may not provide us with the Personal Information of another person unless you have their permission to do so.
We may also collect your IP address when you use the Site and we keep track of your dealings with us, including details of your visits to the Site and the resources that you access, including, but not limited to, traffic data, general location derived from IP address, weblogs and other communication data.
We may also receive Personal Information from third parties, such as government agencies, hospitals, or our business partners, provided that such third parties confirm to us that they have obtained your consent for the purposes for which the information is provided to us, or we have obtained your consent in this regard.
We collect, use and disclose Personal Information primarily for the purposes of:
- Providing individuals with access to our Site;
- Responding to inquiries, requests or complaints you may submit to us;
- Providing you with information you have requested, such as allowing you to book a tour of our facilities;
- Quality management;
- Statistical analysis;
- Processing payments, which is done through a third party service provider pursuant to their terms and privacy policy if you choose to make a donation to us using the links on our Site, and in which case we receive donor name, street/email address, personal message (e.g., dedication or in memoriam), form of payment - credit card, cheque, PayPal (but not complete payment information). Please note that dedications or in memoriams may be shared with the next of kin;
- To establish, manage, and terminate volunteer relationships, if you seek to volunteer at the Baker Centre;
- If you call us and request information, we may return your call or use any other contact information you provide to do so; and
- Meeting relevant regulatory, legal, insurance, audit, and security requirements.
We will not refuse to provide a product or service to you if you choose not to provide us with your Personal Information, unless your failure to provide such information makes us unable to provide such product or service.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Other than as permitted or required by law (for example, in response to a court order or subpoena, or to comply with local or federal regulations), or where we sell any or all of our business and/or assets to a third party, your Personal Information will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose without your consent.
We may also disclose Personal Information to third parties if we have reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to: (i) conduct investigations of possible breaches of law; (ii) identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be violating an agreement they have with us; or (iii) to protect our rights, safety or property.
We may disclose Personal Information to third parties that help us process it as described in this Privacy Policy. When we disclose Personal Information to third parties for processing, such as for contracted services such as website hosting, computer backup services and/or archival storage services, or other third-party services related to services rendered by us, we will ensure that those third parties agree to only use your Personal Information for specified purposes and agree to provide a level of protection to the Personal Information comparable to that adopted by us.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Security
In order to help prevent unauthorized access or disclosure of Personal Information, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to help safeguard and secure the Personal Information we collect.

Even though we have taken steps to help protect the Personal Information in our control, you should know that we cannot fully eliminate security risks associated with Personal Information. No security measures can provide absolute protection. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us.
We may Transfer Personal Information Collected on this Site Outside of Canada
In addition, Personal Information may be processed and stored outside of the province in which it was collected by us, an affiliate or a third-party service provider for the purposes set out in this Policy, and may be processed outside of Canada, including in the United States. For example, this may be the case for credit card processing.

Use of Cookies and Other Technologies
The Baker Centre uses a browser feature called a "cookie" to collect information and track usage patterns on its Site, including among other things, your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, operating system, browser type, the pages of the website that you visit, the time spent on those pages, access dates and times, clicks, and general location derived from IP address, which will enable us to improve our Site and services. How to Access and Correct Your Personal Information
We want to ensure that information about you is accurate, complete and current. However, in many cases, we will rely on individuals to ensure that their Personal Information is accurate, complete and current. We will not routinely update Personal Information unless such a process is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected.
Please inform the Baker Centre of any change of name, address, or other information. If you have questions about the accuracy of information that we have collected about you, or would like to access the Personal Information we have about you, you can have access to that Personal Information in order to verify and update it. If we have disclosed inaccurate information about you to a third party, we will be pleased to contact the third party in order to advise them of the error.
